Welcome back to my blog ! In this chapter of my dance blog, I will explain how I started to find myself, by doing my favourite thing.. When I started to secondary school, my school was offering different types of activities which are scheduled twice a week. As you can guess, there was also a choice of “dance” to be selected.. and yes I had chosen it 🙂 As I talked about my first blog post, I was not confident about my body, I faced with some challenges while dancing. I put the picture below. I was 12 years old 🙂 Sorry for the quality of photos, as it was around 7 years ago, the technology was not that improved..
However, this activity triggered me to eat in a more healthier way and helped me to lose weight. My mother is a teacher and was also creating dance choreographies for end of year ceremonies. I was always impressed by them, especially when I started to deal with dance and my mum was always my supporter about my dance hobby. Moreover, in our dance classes, we were hardly practicing the choreographies for annual showcase. That feeling was really exciting to perform in a real stage with spot lights ! At firsthand of the show day, I was so panicked at all, cause it was going to my first professional-based experience on stage. When it was the time performance the panic replaced itself with passion and blessing and most of my teachers and friends were surprised about my performance (as I was generally shy and quiet in public) I got many positive feedbacks from the audiences, including “You should go through dancing even as a course to be studied in the university”. That moment I felt super-proud of myself and became more ambitious. I think, that show was the time that I understood, I can only describe my feelings by means of dance ! Stay tuned for the rest of the story.
Sneak peek for next week: The challenges start with my course decision (for university) versus dance ?
